Are your meals so elaborate that you’re washing dishes in the dark? Are you the last one to breakfast every day? Is someone waiting to rig a boat because your dunnage bag isn’t packed? Golly, it sure gets hot fast in the morning sun, huh?

Think about ways you can be a team player and get with the program. When you get to camp, help unload the rafts (all of them), then help set up the kitchen first so the cooks can start cooking. Your tent can wait until later. Look for ways to help in camp and that way everyone has more time to play during the day. Dawn is the best part of the day. Don’t sleep through it.

The trip is 2 weeks long or more. You can spend it drifting with the current, taking long side hikes, and relaxing. Or you can spend it poorly organized, drunk every night, sleeping in every day, and rowing downstream to make up time. The choice is up to the collective karma, with tone-setting by the trip leader.
