Tom Martin and Duwain Whitis have written and designed a new Canyonlands Rivermap, Guide to the Colorado and Green Rivers in the Canyonlands of Utah & Colorado. This 2022 second printing of the Second Edition guide covers the Colorado river beginning with the beauty of Ruby Horsethief and the whitewater of Westwater canyons, all the way past the Moab Daily, through Meander Canyon to the confluence with the Green River. The guide also covers the Green River from Green River, Utah, through Labyrinth and Stillwater canyons to the confluence with the Colorado River. From there, these two rivers combine and head into Cataract Canyon. So does the guide, on down through Cataract and Narrow canyons to Hite, with the take-out at North Wash.
This guide is the same format as the guides to the Grand Canyon and the San Juan River by Duwain and Tom. The guide includes lots of useful information about rapids, including where to scout the rapids if scouting is indicated. Campsites and pull-in information are also included, as well as historical and geological information and the occasional hiking route description. The Guide contains great color photographs and the 7.5 minute USGS quad-maps "going-with-the-flow" from the bottom of the page to the top to help you orientate yourself on your next trip though Canyonlands by river. There's a robust front end section with information on how to get all the various permits and sort out shuttles.
The guide is 110 page, spiral bound 8.5" x 14" in size, and is printed on waterproof tear-resistant plastic paper. The purchase price is $41 each, including USA shipping. (Canada shipping add $22)
