Come To A Celebration Of 40 Years Of Wilderness

August 2004. Please join River Runners for Wilderness and other wilderness champions for an exciting day-into-evening birthday celebration marking the 40th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 20th anniversary of the 1984 Arizona Wilderness Act. The event will honor the people who were pivotal to the bills passage and the spectacular wilderness acreage that has garnered protection under these two important pieces of legislation.

If you're in the Flagstaff, Arizona area, please join us for this very special, open-to-the-public event on Friday, September 3rd at 11am to 4pm in Heritage Square and from 7pm to 10pm at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Flagstaff. Donations are welcome at the door.

Events at Heritage Square will be fun for the whole family, with a giant birthday cake, live music and wilderness information and outreach booths. Be sure to visit RRFW at ours. Later, the celebration at the Orpheum Theater will include celebratory speakers and feature music by the Jeff Strange Band, with a raffle and cash bar and a unique chautauqua-style presentation of John Muir, the pioneer of wilderness preservation.

This celebration is jointly sponsored by River Runners for Wilderness, Arizona Wilderness Coalition, Grand Canyon Wildlands Council, Sierra Club, and The Wilderness Society.
